Flip Spot is a simple sports game built around one thing: jumping and trying not to mess up the landing. You can launch your character from rooftops, bars, planes, and other strange spots, then use the few seconds in the air to pull off as many flips and twists as possible.
There are more than 70 tricks to try, from basic frontflips and backflips to side flips and combinations with twists. You control the rotation while your character is airborne. Holding the input makes the body tuck up and spin faster, while letting go gives you time to straighten out before hitting the landing area.
That last part is where most jumps go wrong. You don't get points just for doing a bunch of tricks. Your character has to finish on their feet. Hit the ground on your back, stomach, or head and the whole attempt is worth nothing.
Coins and points from successful jumps can be used to unlock more tricks and improve jump power and spin speed. There are also plenty of cosmetic options, so you can change things like clothes, hair, and skin color as you progress.
Level Mode gives you specific places and score goals to beat. Free Play is more relaxed and lets you slow things down, move around, and practice combinations without worrying about failing a stage.
The controls are easy to pick up, but getting a really clean jump takes practice. When a long combination finally ends with both feet landing perfectly, it feels earned.
